My name is Claire. I was going to be named Jencene (don’t worry I had never heard of it either). I think I could have pulled off being called Jen. When I remember, I use it as a coffee alias. In the end I was named Claire after Clair de lune by Debussy. My father adored classical music. He also adored history. My middle name is Cassandra after the princess of Troy in ancient mythology. My sister was named after Penelope from Homer’s ‘Oddessy’ which, in my view at least, is much cooler. But, I’m learning to discover and embrace who I am. This is a good place to start.
I’ve become more spontaneous over the years. Starting this blog is yet another example of this thriving new tendency. This may well be a good tool to chart my (and maybe even your) progress.
A lot has happened to change who I am on the inside and out over the past two years. So who am I? Well, lets will find out together.
In short and in no particular order I am…
Made in the image of God and alive in Jesus.
History nerd (and proud).
City born country girl.
What to expect? I can’t give any guarantees but here are some suspects:
– Navigating the complex and scary world of secondary teaching.
– Passionate diatribes on the relevance and use (and misuse) of history.
– Musings on society and culture.
– Inner struggles and outward delights of bellydancing.
What else? Let’s figure that out together as I try, for the first time in my life, not to overthink everything.
